Austin had a BIG accident at school on Tuesday September 7, 2010. He was skipping around his classroom and tripped and fell into a table. OUCH!! We thought he had only busted his lip and knocked one tooth loose which is bad enough as it is. Turns out he did some pretty serious damage, we ended up having to go to the dentist and an oral surgeon that afternoon. He had to go Wednesday Sept. 8, 2010 to have surgery to have all four of his top front teeth removed! Above is a picture of him the night before surgery, it does not even come close to showing how bad it looked.
I felt so bad for him, this is a picture the morning of his surgery, the swelling was so bad. I cried, and of course he did not. He was such a tough guy through the whole ordeal.
This picture was taken today, Sept. 9, 2010. the swelling is almost completely gone, he has a small bruise to the left of his nose and his bottom lip is still a little busted. Where they took his teeth out is healing pretty good and he was able to eat like normal again. He has been so good about everything, his speech is affected a little bit without the teeth but not too bad. The dentist recommended a pedi-partial so that he does not go 4 years with no front teeth. He should have that in about a month, so we have about 3 or 4 weeks of no front teeth. I will post more pics later after he is all healed up so you can all see his toothless smile!
